KILN FIRED GLASS - FUSING AND SLUMPING
Both beginners and intermediate students will work together in either a 4 week or 6 week course.
Beginners will learn from the start, the processes of fusing, slumping and texturing glass in a kiln. Topics discussed include glass properties, glass compatibility, annealing and firing schedules. Set projects will cover - full fuse, tack fuse, slumping, painting with light (use of frits and powders), and 6mm float texture pick up. Popular choices of projects include platters, bowls, table centrepieces, and wall art. Students attending 6 week option will be given free time to experiment with projects of their own choice. Students who are new to glass, need to arrange glass cutting tuition prior to attending kiln fired classes.
Intermediates are able to work on their own projects with the ability to expand upon their knowledge. Learn the process of mold making, raking, torch work, basic pate-de-verre, metal inclusions and more advanced design constructions.
Students receive a 10% discount on glass and supplies during class term. (Conditions apply)
