JEWELLERY MAKING WEEKEND

No previous glass experience needed to join this beginner's introduction to warm glass jewellery making.  Learn how to cut glass (an essential skill for most glass work), and develop an understanding of glass properties and basic fusing techniques to work on small scale projects.  Processes will include metal inclusions, texture pick up, and sandblasted dichroic.

Warm Glass Jewellery Making

Six fabulous sessions of jewellery making using kiln fired glass techniques.  Students will learn how to make their own unique pieces of glass jewellery including  pendants, earrings and rings.  Techniques discussed and explored include working with metal inclusions (silver/gold/copper), incorporating stringers/frits, texturing transparents, creating with dichroic glass, and more. Learn how to wire wrap and successfully hang fused finished pieces.

Jewellery Making 4 weeks

Four, 3 hour sessions.  Learn the art of glass cutting and basic kiln forming techniques using metal inclusions, dichroic glass, gold leaf, frits and powders etc, as you create your own unique jewellery pieces - pendants, earrings.  You will also learn how to assemble finished works in many different ways. This is a great place to start your kiln forming journey.

New workshop 2008 - silver art clay with kiln fired glass combined.

Silver clay looks and works like normal clay, but is actually 92-98% pure silver. When you fire the clay using a kiln, the impurities (binders) burn out and you have 99.9% fine silver remaining. Combine this exciting new product with glass and the results are endless

Join Kathryn - Master of Arts (Fine Art - Silver and Gold Smithing) and learn some of the basic techniques in shaping and forming art clay using the different products available.


Workshop options - 1, 2 or 3 days.

1 day workshop - join Vicki Hill for a short course in kiln fired glass cabuchons.  Learn how to cut and fire Bullseye Glass for the purpose of making small pendants to be used with silver art clay.  Cost $90 all materials included.   Friday 16th May.

2 day workshop - Kathryn Wardill will teach the process of combining kiln formed glass with art clay.  Learn the processes of clay forming around kiln fired glass, firing glass and clay together in same project, and polishing silver.  Cost $275 all materials included.  Sat 17th/Sun 18th May.

3 day workshop - join Vicki and Kathryn over 3 days and learn the whole process of combining glass and silver art clay in a kiln to form jewellery. (1 day with Vicki, 2 days with Kathryn).  Cost $365 Fri 16th, Sat 17th and Sun 18th May.  All materials included.
